Ghost Town and Me

I had the opportunity to see the movie "Ghost Town" the other night with my children.

Finally, a movie about ghosts and a medium who didn't really want to be a messenger of the other side. I won't spoil the ending for you... It was funny, light hearted, and cute! As a medium, I'm going to have to tell you, it's not quite like that - but it was very entertaining.

Ricky Gervais (the British comedian and mastermind behind "The Office,") plays as a not-so-nice, arrogant, self-centered dentist, Dr. Pincus. A horrible mishap during a routine colonoscopy left Dr. Pincus technically dead for seven minutes, and that's how he started to see and hear ghosts.

It made me think of me and my own life, and how I came into this world. You see, something amazing happened to me at birth and this is how the story goes...

The pregnancy
My three older brothers and sister were all born in the hospital. Each one came out normal with no complications. When my mother got pregnant for the fifth time, she decided to give birth at home instead of going to the hospital. At the time, she and my father thought that it was probably a good idea and that it would save alot of money, since we didn't have very much.

The mid-wife
Two weeks after the estimated arrival, I would not come out. The mid-wife that my mother had at home began to really worry about the delivery. With the advice of her mid-wife, my mother and father took the long trip by bus to the hospital.

The hospital
When they got to the hospital, the doctors decided to do an emergency C-section on my mother because I had gotten way too big to have a normal delivery. When I came out, I was pronounced dead. No pulse, no heartbeat... Now, I'm not sure how long I was gone for but from how my sister described it, it was hours.

The box
My parents didn't have alot of money and couldn't afford to buy a coffin to put me in, so they decided to buy an oridinary shipping box so that they could take my body back to their village. My father went out to purchase a box and on his way, he went to Catholic church and knelt down before the Virgin Mary and prayed.

The prayer
My father prayed and asked the blessed virgin Mary to send him a miracle of life for his daughter. I was told that my father made a "deal" with the blessed Mary as he prayed. The deal was that if Mary would make his daughter live, he would name his daughter after her (Maria)... When he finished his prayer, he realized he had forgotten something in the hospital. He went back to the hospital.

The miracle
As he watched my dead body lay there, I could just imagine how he heartbroken he must've been. A miracle happened as he arrived and that I started to cry... My parents and doctors were in much amazement and shock. Hence, that is where I got the name "Maria" from.

Is this possible?
Yes. A talented intuitive councelor once told me that perhaps the spirits were switched during birth. The reason being was possibly because it was me that was meant to be here to do this kind of work.

Long story short
So when I told my mother and sister that I was hearing things, and that I am doing this kind of work, there were no surprises. It made sense to them that this is what I should be doing in this lifetime.
